With the release of the various crypto apps, both centralized and decentralized, it’s increasingly easy for the average person to start to buy and sell cryptocurrency.

Aside from the general public, celebrities are also getting in on the action and helping push forward the adoption of cryptocurrency technologies on a wider scale. Here are 12 celebrities who are pro cryptocurrency and Bitcoin.

1. Snoop Dogg

Back in 2013, when Bitcoin was in its early stages, Snoop Dogg planned to make his record available to buy in bitcoin.

He sold the albums at 0.3 BTC back then and while the total amount of bitcoin he acquired is unknown he’s certainly an early adopter of the technology.

Snoop also doesn’t stop at Bitcoin and he isn’t afraid to explore popular altcoins as he has been spotted at an XRP Community Night crypto party.

2. Paris Hilton

This tweet was later deleted by the TV star.

After publication, a spokesperson said Paris is no longer involved with Lydian.

3. Bill Gates

Bill Gates, a very well known investing figure, is one of the richest people in the world. In 2014, he gave an interview for Bloomberg where he spoke positively for Bitcoin.

“Bitcoin is exciting because it shows how cheap it can be. Bitcoin is better than currency in that you don’t have to be physically in the same place, and for large transactions, currency can get pretty inconvenient.”

Once, he received bitcoin as a birthday present.

“Somebody gave me some for my birthday,” Gates laughed during an interview with Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett and Vice Chairman Charlie Munger. “A few years later, I thought, ‘Hey I’m going to sell that.”

The boxer – whom Forbes values at $285m – used Instagram to promote ICOs to his 22.3 million followers and told his 7.85 million Twitter followers: “You can call me Floyd Crypto Mayweather from now on.”
